Default Obesity Contributes to Global Warming

Obesity contributes to global warming: study - Yahoo! News

Quote:
Obesity contributes to global warming, too.

Obese and overweight people require more fuel to transport them and the food they eat, and the problem will worsen as the population literally swells in size, a team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine says.

This adds to food shortages and higher energy prices, the school's researchers Phil Edwards and Ian Roberts wrote in the journal Lancet on Friday.

"We are all becoming heavier and it is a global responsibility," Edwards said in a telephone interview. "Obesity is a key part of the big picture."

Well, that about covers everybody. Is it time for them to propose taking over the food supply & rationing it out now?

I just came across that article and was about to post it but you beat me to it.

Well, the idiocy and lunacy will never end will it ? Now they say fat people are contributing to global warming. What happens if the person has a medical problem ? Now the environmentalists are making people, who can't help it, feel guilty about contributing to global climate change. What a load of crock !

*sigh* these enviro-whack jobs are contributing everything under the sun to global warming. This is becoming totally absurd.

I say this on the heels of an article many might not be aware of:

Walking to the shops ‘damages planet more than going by car’ - Times Online

Quote:
Walking to the shops ‘damages planet more than going by car’

Walking does more than driving to cause global warming, a leading environmentalist has calculated.

Food production is now so energy-intensive that more carbon is emitted providing a person with enough calories to walk to the shops than a car would emit over the same distance. The climate could benefit if people avoided exercise, ate less and became couch potatoes. Provided, of course, they remembered to switch off the TV rather than leaving it on standby.

“The troubling fact is that taking a lot of exercise and then eating a bit more food is not good for the global atmosphere. Eating less and driving to save energy would be better.”
If we'd all just stop breathing....

environmentalists are actually the biggest contributers to global warming : reason being, all their protesting, yammering, bitching, and complaining will for sure work up an appetite. So, to satisfy that appetite they will of course eat more and as they have stated, eating more contributes to global warming.

So by their reasoning, if they stopped protesting and bitching and complaining they'll eat less and contribute less to global warming. Makes sense to me.

This issue about obesity contributes to global warming has really made me think.

If this claim is true (I can't stress the word IF enough), but for the sake or argument let's say that obesity contributes to global warming. Ok, so wouldn't the environmentalists then imply that these obese people exercise so they won't eat as much ? But based on the article you posted AE, "The climate could benefit if people avoided exercise, ate less and became couch potatoes.", then obese people can't exercise because it can damage the climate yet they can't be obese because it also damages the climate, talk about being in a rock and a hard place. What are they supposed to do ? Referring to the logic of the environmentalists, would it be beneficial then to cull all obese people to save the environment ?

I think in a case like this, comparing environmentalists to Nazis is justified. The environmentalists are targeting a specific group of people, and not giving them much of an option to 'help the environment', and as I mentioned before, using the argument the environmentalists have laid out, it would be best to kill all obese people to protect the environment. Does this sound absurd ? I think so, but the real scary thought is, the environmentalists don't think it is.
