Default calgary here

Hi,
I'll admit, when 'earth day' first sprang up I was concerned about protecting the environment and all that hogwash.

But now, it seems like where you go everything and everyone is green. I've gotten to the point where I am just sick and tired of hearing about how environmentally friendly everything and everyone has become. I am glad I drive a gas guzzler !!

Anyways, just wanted to say hi and hopefully I can make regular contributions to the site !

International indeed! you now have an Australian in your ranks!

I too have had it with environmental extremism. I am currently enrolled in a University course "Bachelor of Sustainable Environments (Geospatial Information Systems)", it is the only course available that can teach me in the area that I wish to work in, Land Surveying or a similar area of Geospatial occupations. And guess what, they put a 'sustainable' skew on the whole course so that the university (and the country for that matter) can churn out an environmentally aware geospatial generation into a society suffering a severe shortage in workers in geospatial careers. It really is too much.

welcome craig !

I work at a university too, and we have programs in the environment as well, EVDS (environmental design I think), and an office of sustainability. There was a campus wide survey on how the university could be more sustainable (in other words more green), so I told them flat out in the survey that was a complete waste of time, and the money on sustainability would be better off spent setting up scholarships for the students.

Pull up a seat and looking forward to hearing from you !
