Default Scientists Say Invisibility Cloak Now Possible

FOXNews.com - Scientists Say Invisibility Cloak Now Possible - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News

Quote:
Researchers have demonstrated for the first time they were able to cloak three-dimensional objects using artificially engineered materials that redirect light around the objects. Previously, they only have been able to cloak very thin two-dimensional objects.

The findings, by scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, led by Xiang Zhang, are to be released later this week in the journals Nature and Science.

The new work moves scientists a step closer to hiding people and objects from visible light, which could have broad applications, including military ones.
Dungeons & Dragons, eat your heart out.

I bet every peeping-Tom in the country is having....well, you know....following this story.

You know, when I was a kid I had this fantasy of becoming invisible and sneaking into the girls locker room and now that I'm older, and it might just be possible, I'd rather watch "Deadliest Catch."

Damn.

hey, i watch deadliest catch from time to time. I've given up on 'reality' shows like big brother and survivor, but deadliest catch is more gritty and more like reality.

Don't feel bad. I'd probably use it to hide from my kids. Or spy on James Hansen while he's making adjustments to temperature data.

I get enough reality from 8-5, so I've never cared about watching someone else's when I get home -- but I know a few people who not only can't get enough of it, they take it PERSONAL with some of these people on these shows. Of course, these days I don't even have control of the remote anymore & I have to watch cartoons, so...

BK (before kids) I never watched much reality TV anyways. I was a history channel/discovery channel type. But I've been on a 2-year unplanned hiatus from both.

with some of the reality shows on now, i'd much rather watch cartoons.

Used to watch survivor religiously, but it just got boring and the same thing everytime, people get pi.ssed at each other, someone gets injured, someone wins a million dollars. whooppee.

I can't stand big brother anymore. Oh, this week is it this person to be head of household. oh wait, this person has to eat pb&j all week. Oh now a romance is heating up. wow how exciting.

I feel shows like that are scripted.

I still catch some reality TV (my wife insists I watch it) but the glitter has worn off. I still like the Gordon Ramsey show, though.

Fortunately, football season is up and running...

yep, big fan of gordon ramsay. I don't like the US version of Kitchen nightmares though, the narration is cheesy and the way gordon swears there is too many bleeps. The original UK version on the food channel is aired unedited.
