pharmaceutical companies
Up until last year, I was in and out of the hospital alot. To make a long story short, it was getting damn fustrating as the doctors were playing a guessing game and I was feeling depressed as I didn't like being away from home (sleeping in a hospital bed sucks) and more importantly, I hated being away from the mrs.
Anyways, when you're in the hospital you have alot of time on your hands, so me and my room mate were discussing a possible theory.
We believe that cures (not treatments) for things like colds, and other diseases are readily available. However, because drug companies make so much money off of treatments (look at OTC <over the counter> medication), why would they bring out a cure ? Financially it is no in their interest period. For instance, dialysis machines/supplies must cost a bundle, and I'm sure a cure does exist in a drug company's vault, but when you can charge over $20 000+ for one iron kidney, why would you want to cure people ?
