Since I've been following this topic pretty much daily for the past five years, I thought I'd pass this news along this morning.
Today may mark the beginning of the end of the global warming movement. The irresponsible lies and baseless science we've been hearing about for years may be about to fold in the face of the current, unpleasant facts. While it may mean the end of yet another communist political movement -- which is all it has been from the beginning -- what may come with it will be far worse. As of May 31st, global temperature data indicated that global warming over the last century has effectively been erased. Average global temperatures have now plummeted over 3/4ths of a degree (C) in the last 16 months. This is an unusually large drop in a short period of time. And it shouldn't go unnoticed that solar cycle 24 has yet to kick in. Sunspots should have resumed 8 months ago. With every passing day, it is becoming more likely that we are about to enter another ice age. That could change tomorrow -- my one disclaimer, as it could very well happen (and you know how I like to specifically note FULL disclosure around here); but the longer the sun remains quiet, the less likely the next cycle is going to fire up anytime soon. One time in history when this happened marked the beginning of the Little Ice Age several centuries ago. At one point during that phase, there were only 50 sunspots over a 30-year period. Global temperatures dropped significantly as a result. If temperatures continue to drop, the consequences will be devastating worldwide. The excess land we have enjoyed for growing crops during this warm phase will, of course, shrink. And with food prices already spiking from rising energy costs & ethanol usage, the riots in 3rd world countries may have only just begun. And considering the economic outlook for the next few years, this will bring a lot of instability all at once. I've often feared that when environmentalism inevitably dies, it will take millions with it to the grave. Hopefully I'm wrong. I'd rather people just read the facts for themselves so that they would come to realize this hoax for what it is, but that's almost impossible with today's irresponsible mainstream press. They have yet to report the fact that temperatures have been dropping for the last six years. Snow in Baghdad (while a regional event, an extremely rare one) a few months ago for the first time in a century should have been a clue.

I hope that is right, that the end of all this environmental nonsense is nearing.
However, in the news (globaltv.com) they will be doing a 'green' news cast, with one of the news casters broadcasting from the arctic, plus they will be giving tips thruout the broadcast on how to go green. Not sure if I can stomach that. If global cooling does occur, what are the environmentalists going to do ? are they still going to protest ? will they get people to burn more fossil fuels ? |

![]() If the line continued past 1998, it would take a nose-dive after the abnormally warm 1998 (due to an el nino) up until present-day. You can see in this graph where the "Little Ice Age" began, depending on which source you site around the 15th-16th century. It's referred to here: The Deniers: Our spotless sun - FP Comment Quote:
I'm not sure any of them have an ounce of reason left.

To tell you the truth, I never thought environmentalists had a shred of reason amongst them to begin with.
I still believe there are certain things that man was just not meant to understand, and the climate is one of them. We can study it, but fully understanding it is another story. There is just way too many factors when it comes to the climate, but we know one thing for certain that man's contribution is extremely miniscule. |

Not only will a colder planet reduce the area of land currently available for farming and shorten the growing season, it will also lock up more water as ice rendering it unusable (or usable only with great effort) for mankind, animals and plant life. Most people don't understand that a colder planet is a drier planet, that a colder atmosphere holds less water than a warmer one. Gee, ever see a hair drier that uses frigid air? In reality, an ice age is an extended drought.
Here in California our governor has just recently declared a drought, even blamed global warming for its occurrence. Balderdash! We are in a drought because we are in a La Nina phase. La Nina's typically reduce the amount of rainfall on the west coast and by definition a La Nina is "colder water than normal" water in the Eastern Pacific. Gee Arnold, what we need to get out of the drought conditions is a bit of warming in the Pacific, not the opposite. Last edited by Dennis; 06-05-2008 at 04:25 PM.. |

Most don't know that CO2 follows temperatures...not vice versa.
Oh how easy it is to steal candy from a baby. Most do not care enough about climate/atmospheric science enough to see the holes in the swiss cheese. And how about stable/slightly cooling temperatures since 1998 (RSS,UAH). Is real time data (monthly)...not important in making assertions? Or is it blind faith in GISS records...or the IPCC? I sense the growing number of heretics...especially with the resurgence of blogs/websites with quality data reporting. Science can only be made better by questioning...not by absolution. In time...people will see that hypothetical warming is more beneficial than cooling, anyway. And whether or not it warms...is COMPLETELY OUT OF OUR CONTROL! ![]() |
