Default We nearly did it

I know that this website seeks to tear down my side of the argument, but I think they say the things which make me proud. Australia was so very close, avoiding the Kyoto protocol until Kevin Rudd gained power November last year...bloody Labor party. And so...apparently we were in league with the US to destroy the Kyoto protocol, I like it...so close, pity it failed. Wouldn't it have been nice that Australia would stand at 'the only country in the world to refuse kyoto' wouldn't that have been grand...even with America...then we'd be safe from trade embargo...we'd have US almighty.

Green Left - Issues: Canberra covers for Bush on greenhouse

Sorry I kinda got fantasising...Aussie Nationalism...it's not dead

Ah well, if all else fails we've always got the largest standing Barbeque Army in the world...I know people with more than one barbie! or just plain huge ones...a kitchen on wheels for the backyard

How many countries that have agreed to the Kyoto restrictions are actually abiding by them?

Yeah, well the Scot in you must be saying "Thank God for Ireland" right now. It seems they have decided not to give away their sovereignty to make the world a "better place." Perhaps there is hope for the rest of us.

If my memory serves me correctly, quite abit, and *embarrassed to say this* my country of canada signed that piece of garbage.

I know that the US, India, China, and Russia didn't sign it.

I know that the european countries are for it 100%, but currently in canada the opposition party ratified kyoto and pushed it thru making it 'law', however the ruling minority gov't has refused to follow it, and will make up their own environmental policies which has nothing to do with kyoto.

I'm thoroughly disgusted with kyoto. Those countries that sign it, I hope that they are prepared for increased costs to consumer products (ie. gas, food, ...) and high unemployment. they will pay dearly for going green.

There are two Canadas from what I know. Western Canada and Socialist Canada.

Many of my relatives live in the Vancouver B.C. area and they never have anything good to say about their federal government though they used to give me a good bit of ribbing when we had Clinton as our President.

Hold on, if your relatives are from BC then that sets off bells for me. BC is well known as an 'environmentally friendly' province. I believe in July 1st, they will be implementing a carbon tax.

I believe the reason they may not have anything good say about the current federal gov't is because of his environmental policies. I for one believe he is listening to environmentalists too much, however residents of BC think otherwise, they think our prime minister isn't doing enough.

when it comes to kyoto, and our current environmental stance, I am very embarrassed to admit i'm a canadian, as for one thing our gov't has given in to these stupid green hippies way tooo often (ie. restricting oil exploration because 500 ducks died in a pond of some sort, kyoto, and some towns have banned the use of pesticides/herbicides).

Too many environmentalists have kept pressuring the gov't to do more about the environment, and they want canada to take the lead. I'm asking "why ?". Is there any factual proof that there should be a stance for going green ? I remember when polar bears were put on some kind of environmental list. Green hippies were pressuring the gov't hard to list the bears as endangered. Give me a break, millions are dying of malaria and west nile is a real threat and environmentalists are worried about polar bears ???
