Default Newt Gingrich Reversal

While I support Newt's new "Drill here, drill now, pay less" campaign, and I signed the online petition, I was wondering when someone was going to bring this up.

I was pulling for Newt to run for President until he went all green on me.

Former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich has been on Fox News and Sean Hannity’s radio show promoting oil drilling in the U.S to help solve our energy crisis. He’s got a “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less” campaign drawing hundreds of thousands of names to one of his websites. But this is a new tune.

This kind of doubletalk helps explain why the Republican Party is in disarray. Rather than advocate the production of more energy of all kinds, they have an incoherent message that looks insincere and hypocritical because they want to appear to be as “green” as the Democrats. They think this is popular. Senator John McCain buys into the man-made global warming theory and his bashing of the oil companies, which are actually doing something concrete to put oil in gas tanks, only makes the Republicans look even more ridiculous.
You can read the details for yourself about Newt's book and his prior campaigns regarding US energy policy. While I support his current quest with American Solutions, it's pretty clear to me that he's nothing more than a politician who will change his views at the drop of a hat. I thought the guy had deeply-rooted convictions, but I guess not.

Newt, like many Republicans, have folded up their tent. Sure the majority of the media is made up of pro-left, anti-capitalist morons who actively campaign for their candidates, but there is still market for the truth. Republicans, for the most part, don't want to make the media mad. The thing is, if the media is wrong (and it is) we are all the worse for going along with them.

High energy prices create an opportunity for Republicans to stand for something. The only ones happy about high energy prices are on the kook left fringe, though they'd prefer that all the profits went to the government. The rest of the population wants to keep more money in their pockets and keep their standard of living increasing. Republicans should be trying to educate the public on our current energy troubles, who is to blame (the leftist kooks and the politicians they own), pointing out ways to reduce cost (drilling, coal liquefaction, tar sands and nuclear energy) and pointing out time and time again that even were we to blame for "climate change" the cure is much worse for them and their children than the "fix."
