Five years ago, I considered myself a global warming skeptic; although I was really too busy to care about it. If I had been asked, I couldn't have told you why I didn't believe that humans were causing global warming, other than to say it was just a hunch.
And then during a Mother's Day breakfast, a milk carton caught my attention.
Surely I hadn't been wrong about this. I was always skeptical about global warming, but there it was on a crossword puzzle designed for children. I was initially infuriated.
My curiosity got the best of me. I had to know what this global warming thing was really all about. I had to know whether or not I had misjudged the little evidence I had heard & read in the press.
So I took to the internet. And I read. And I researched. And I read more. And more. And that's when I concluded...
...I had been right all along. It didn't add up. In fact, it stunk. Bad.
The discussions? Political. The media coverage? One-sided. The science? Questionable, if not completely baseless. The children? The target.
The discussion on global warming was an out-of-control cycle of ignorance, and it had to be fixed. A solution was in order. And thus this site was born.
Absolutely.
Being anti-environmental is a step beyond being a global warming skeptic; but truth be told, there are more than a handful of skeptics who are anti-environmental as well. They just don't realize it yet.

And maybe that's because they're solely focused on the science, whereas I've been focused on the larger picture.
Green weddings: no meat, no plastic eating utinsils, no electricity.
Green Christmas: no Christmas cards, climate-neutral gift certificates, and rechargeable batteries for the kids.
I'm not making it up. This cycle of ignorance has taken on a life of its own, even to the point of trying to change the greatest of traditions.
What Crichton has stated, and what conservative radio has echoed, I once fully believed and echoed myself. Now I'm not so sure.
For some who have embraced this global warming movement, this has undoubtedly become a substitute atheistic religion; but over the past few years I have concluded that this is more obsessive-compulsive behavior.
In the presence of the "foregone conclusion," saving the earth is now the obsession.
The sad part is, there is nothing that needs saving.
Most people aren't obsessive-compulsive. Given the evidence, their minds can be changed. That's been the goal here from the beginning: we must get our message out.
Your participation here can change the minds of those who are borderline, undecided, or just go with the flow. This movement can be countered with an organized effort. And that's what I'm asking for.
There is no more powerful weapon than the truth.
